Media and Information Literate Citizens: Think Critically, Click Wisely!

The exclamation mark in that title tells you roughly what register to expect, and no author is credited, which is usually a sign you're reading an institution rather than a person. Still: this is the UN's education and culture agency setting out its own framing of media and information literacy — evaluating sources, how journalism works, algorithms, advertising, digital citizenship, and how all of it connects to taking part in a democracy. UNESCO's framing filters down into national curricula and teacher training, so it's worth twenty minutes to see what the reference version actually looks like before someone quotes it at you.
