Privacy Policy

The short version
There are no accounts on baloney.ai. We never ask who you are, so we have nothing to lose, sell, or hand over. The few places where data does exist are listed below by name, because a promise you can check is worth more than one you have to take on trust.
Submitting a claim is anonymous
Submitting a claim or a counterpoint requires no login, no account and no name. There is no user record anywhere in our database and no field that links a claim to the person who submitted it. This is structural, not a policy we could quietly change: the column does not exist.
Claims you submit are sent to five AI providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Perplexity and xAI — so they can be evaluated. The claim text is sent. Nothing identifying you is sent, because we do not have anything identifying you. Submitted claims and their verdicts are published publicly.
The newsletter
If you subscribe to The Weekly Slice, your email address goes to Resend, our email provider, who holds the list. It is not stored in our database — there is no subscribers table. We do not sell or share it. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe.
The hat
The DMAG cap is sold and shipped by Shopify. Payment details, your name and your shipping address are handled entirely by them under their own privacy policy. baloney.ai never receives them.
Reach counting
When someone follows a certified share link, we record that the visit happened so a claim can show how far it travelled. We store a salted hash of the IP address and browser user-agent — not the address itself — so repeat visits can be counted once without the record identifying anyone. These hashes are deleted after 90 days.
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or fingerprinting, and we run no advertising.
Who else touches data
Running a website means third parties handle traffic. Ours are:
- Vercel — hosting. Keeps standard operational logs and aggregate analytics about page requests.
- Cloudflare — DNS, and the bot check on submission forms.
- Neon — the database holding published claims and verdicts.
- Resend — the newsletter list.
- Shopify — the hat store.
- Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Perplexity, xAI — claim evaluation.
What we would have to hand over
If we were compelled to disclose information about who submitted a claim, we could not comply — the information does not exist. That is the practical consequence of collecting nothing, and it is deliberate.
Your choices
Unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any email. For anything else, write to privacy@baloney.ai. We cannot delete a submitted claim on request of the submitter, because we have no way to verify who submitted it — again, a consequence of collecting nothing.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date above changes with it.
